Saddleback!
Sunday morning at 7am it was time to meet Tim Z and head for the peak...
Saddleback is 5500ft and we live at 200
The photos on the roads were taken while RIDING to the trails
Looking down on the OC from 3/4 of the way up
A little ice near the top
The views (and descent down holy jim) make it all worthwhile
Now back to work! Holiday mode will be here soon enough.

Friday Night
The start of my ride, Friday night, 5:30pm. It was a long week in the real world and I still had 11hrs of ride time to get in by Sunday. Don't let anything stop you!
This is week 4 of my first block of base training. I've been logging 15hrs per week of almost all endurance pace riding. I have been mixing it up only in terms of doing some cadence work, and lot of mountain biking. About 1 ride per week I'll do some random intensity and go hard a few times, usually on the mountain bike since it's more fun. I would still be open to some cross training this time of year, but just don't really have time to drive to a pool or gym, so riding it is. I have been sticking to a core workout routine twice per week that has already made me feel stronger on the mountain bike. It's only about 20min, but a lot of planks, crunches, push-ups, etc that I just do at home.
Now it's Saturday morning and I only have 9.5hrs to ride today and tomorrow. I better get back on it!
After this week it will be time for a rest week and our Texas visit for the holidays. I feel like I need the rest week mostly because of work, not so much because I'm getting fatigued from the first weeks of riding base... It all adds up though, stress is stress, and it's time for some rest. There will be a time to push harder in training, but now it's still time to be patient and take thing slowly.
