Good times along the coast

This weekend I rode to San Diego, hung out with my girls and stayed the night downtown, hung out some more and then rode home.  Good times!

Life is not by Chance

It's been another week of good health and great rides.  Man I'm thankful for the beautiful places I have to ride!

Last week on some of my rides I listed to 4 different Saddleback church messages on creation (of the universe) and God.  Back on Thanksgiving, Saddleback had our annual apologetics weekend.  The 5 weekend services all had a different guest speakers, all experts in their fields, each speaking on the subject of creation.  They were all PHD level scientists that are also Christians.  The messages were awesome and each took a different approach to illustrate the same thing - science points more than ever to the fact that our world had a creator.

There were too many great points to go into here, but some of the basics are that:
Science isn't the only way to look at / know things
Experts in biology recognize that natural selection is real, but does result in macro-evolution
Scientific research of the universe points towards a creator

To me there is no better way to hear the evidence and explanations then while also experiencing life itself and observing the world around me - riding my bike!  The beauty of the world and the intricacy of the human body are not by chance. Give thanks to God and enjoy life!

And for those that are obsessed with endurance workouts - I had 2 big ones over the weekend.

Holiday Happenings

Beth and I had a great time over the holidays.  After a couple stressful weeks of work and planning just before Christmas we ended up with lots of quality time with family, a little work, and a good chunk of riding for me.  The weather was cool and sometimes wet, but the beautiful days that followed were always worth it.  When the summer smog goes away we are lucky to live in a really beautiful place.

It's amazing how time flies when you're having a good time visiting with family.  Sometimes I'm a little too comfortable with my routine and the changes with company in town stress me out.  But relationships are the most important thing we have and facebook and blogs can only do so much to help us stay in touch between real life visits.  In the end I'm really thankful for all the time we had with family this year!

The break from work also allowed me to get in a really solid endurance block - 23 hours in 8 days.  I let my routine go and just went with the flow for a change and it all worked out pretty well.  After a few days of rest it's back to the obsessive schedule this week so I can get in some consistent training on top of the normal work week.
