Training

There's not a lot of time for me to write updates these days!  Things have been good and Cameron is more fun everyday.  We're home together while Beth is coaching at a swim meet this morning and I'm getting caught up with all my recent training info.  For those that find this stuff interesting, here is what I've been up to.

After the VQ I needed a full 5 days to recover with 3 easy recovery rides no more than an hour each and 2 days off.  Then I jumped into a new training block that will be about 10 days long followed by a few easy days before the Whiskey 50, Idyllwild Challenge, and Catalina Gran Fondo on back to back weekends.

My focus was to spend a decent amount of time back in the endurance zone (after lots of recovery rides and 2 big race days in the previous few weeks) and some time at threshold trying to breakthrough to a little higher fitness before the next races.

I started on a Friday and was feeling really good that day and ended up doing a 2-a-day with a few Vo2 and power efforts.  Saturday was 4.5hrs and 7500ft on the mountain bike all at endurance pace.  Sunday was an endurance / tempo day on my road bike which turned into a pretty hard ride since I was a little tired from the previous 2 days.

Monday was off, Tuesday 2 hours endurance pace on the mountain bike with no intensity, and Wednesday was my key threshold workout for the week.  This was an important ride for me confidence wise and I had a great day matching my best ever effort for 3x20min.  After that was 2 recovery days and now I have 3 more workouts to go:

3.5hrs endurance on the mountain bike today, Como group ride for some varied intensity tomorrow and another threshold workout on Tuesday, this time 2x20min.  God willing I'll stay healthy and strong and be ready to rock at 3 great races in a row

Thanks for checking in on me and see you at Whiskey!

Fri - 2 workouts and commuted to work all in 2 hours
